From Dr. Klotz regarding solo auditions for October concert:
HCS Large Chorus:
On Monday, August 26 from 6-7pm, we will hold auditions for soloists in the October concert. Solo auditions are open to all HCS membership currently singing in the choir.
Here’s the plan for the auditions:
Chichester Psalms – SATB soli in mvts. 1 and 3
1) Prepare the solo sections in both mvts. 1 & 3 for the auditions
2) Text or a neutral syllable is acceptable
3) The chosen quartet of singers will perform both mvts. 1 & 3 in the concert
Psalmfest – ST soli in mvts. 2, 4, 6, and 8
1) Choose a movement to sing for your audition; here are the audition excerpts for each:
mvt. 2 (T mm. 17-22, S mm. 44-52)
mvt. 4 (T & S mm. 19-44)
mvt. 6 (T mm. 9-19, S mm. 30-43)
mvt. 8 (S & T duet mm. 7-43)
2) You are welcome to audition for more than one movement
3) Auditions are open to other voice parts besides sopranos and tenors, as appropriate in the voice.
4) Please sing on the words
5) The plan is to use multiple soloists in the concert for this work; however, it depends on how the auditions proceed. If absolutely necessary, it is possible that you audition for one movement but are assigned a different one for the concert.
